Global education systems differ significantly in terms of structure and content of curricula. Therefore, it may be difficult to compare national education systems with those of other countries.

The International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) provides a comprehensive framework for organizing educational programs and qualifications, applying uniform and internationally agreed definitions to facilitate comparisons of education systems between countries.

ISCED-F classifies education programs and related qualifications by field of study, depending on the broad scope of the field, industry or scope of content.
